Abstract
As a pillar industry of China's national economy, the automobile industry plays a significant role in expanding domestic demand, increasing tax revenue, activating the market and improving people’s living standards. China has been ranked first in the global automobile producing countries and new car market for 12 consecutive years, and automobile consumption is of vital importance in forming a new development pattern of double cycle with domestic big cycle as the main body. However, the automobile industry has changed from an incremental market to a stock market, facing the dilemma of “high-end loss and low-end scuffle”. At the same time, the industry competition continues to intensify, the degree of intelligence continues to improve, and the continuous practice of digital transformation has become the key to maintain the competitiveness of enterprises. How automobile enterprises should carry out digital transformation and how to measure their digital level scientifically are the long-term pain points of enterprise operators, which have great theoretical and practical value.This paper takes “automobile industry enterprises” as the research object, and focuses on the idea of “fact basis - index system - application effect - influencing factors - action plan” for its digital development. Firstly, it analyzes the current situation, key areas and bottleneck problems of the digital transformation of enterprises in the automobile industry. Secondly, build a set of scientific, comprehensive and industry-specific digital level evaluation index system; Thirdly, the index system is used to evaluate the digitalization level of enterprises in the automobile industry and multiple case studies are carried out. Then, explore the factors affecting the digitalization level of automobile industry enterprises; Finally, the paper puts forward the action plan and specific measures for the digital transformation of automobile industry enterprises.
The findings of this paper are as follows: (1) The digitalization of the automobile industry presents three major development trends, namely, structural changes in the competitive landscape, profound changes in customer demand, and new development of digital intelligence leading the automobile industry into a new era. (2) Digital foundation and technology, digital strategy and organization, digital R&D and manufacturing, and digital operation and service are the key areas of digital transformation of automobile enterprises, and the four key areas are facing bottleneck problems to be broken. (3) Starting from the four dimensions of digital foundation and technical capability, digital R&D and manufacturing capability, digital operation and service capability, and digital strategy and organizational capability, an evaluation index system covering 11 secondary indexes and 36 tertiary indexes is established for the digitalization level of automobile enterprises. It is found that digital R&D and manufacturing capabilities are the most important factors affecting their digital level. (4) The average score of digitalization level evaluation of enterprises in China's automobile industry is 80.05 points, and the overall performance is relatively good, but the digitalization level in the field of technology and organization needs to be improved. (5) Typical enterprises such as SAIC, Tesla, Huawei Automobile and Xiaomi Automobile have provided experience for the digitalization of automobile enterprises. That is, we should take user experience as the core, attach importance to technological innovation and data application, strengthen strategic planning, organizational change and talent management, and focus on breaking through the digitalization of research and development, manufacturing, marketing and service. (6) Enterprise internal factors, external factors and system self-organization factors can promote its digital transformation.
Based on the above research, the paper puts forward the action plan and specific measures for the digital transformation of automobile enterprises. First of all, the overall goal of digital transformation of automobile enterprises at this stage is clear, that is, guided by the vision of the enterprise's digital strategy, by systematically reconstructing the digital capabilities of the entire value chain including R&D, production, operation, organization and service, a three-in-one development system of “strategic orientation - technology empowerment - organizational evolution” is formed to promote the transformation of the enterprise from traditional manufacturing to a technology-driven smart travel service provider. Then it puts forward specific implementation measures based on four dimensions: digital foundation and technical capability, digital R&D and manufacturing capability, digital operation and service capability, and digital strategy and organizational capability.
The research conclusion of this paper has certain theoretical and practical value. In terms of theoretical value, it not only enriches the theoretical research of digital economy, but also expands the theoretical research of industrial organization and enterprise management. In terms of practical value, it not only innovatively constructs an index system of enterprise digitization level in the automotive industry to better guide and promote the digital development of the automotive industry, but also clarifies the driving factors for the digital development of enterprises in the automotive industry, proposes action plans for the digital transformation of enterprises in the automotive industry, and puts forward overall goals for all stakeholders involved in the digital transformation of enterprises in the automotive industry. Identify key tasks and provide specific guidance for reference.
