    Abstract

Academic research on personality traits in the field of management has focused on the relationship between personality traits and individual behavior. While personality is not the sole cause of behavior, it continually influences how we behave at work. More importantly, personality has been shown to influence employee performance, and hundreds, if not thousands, of primary studies have examined the role of personality in predicting these behaviors at work.
Based on existing research, this study introduces the Big Five and Narcissistic Personality, which are more common in the field of management, to analyze their relationship with employee performance and the mediating roles of self-efficacy and empathy, and to conduct a more comprehensive comparative analysis of these two personality traits through multi-source measures, with the aim of providing a more detailed compendium of tests for the relationship between these two personality traits and employee performance, in order to respond to the uncertainty of the results of existing studies.
This study used a questionnaire survey based on first-line teachers of a limited company in China as the research subjects, and collected online data on their Big Five personality traits, narcissistic personality traits, empathy, and self-confidence, and constructed a structural equation model of Big Five personality, narcissism, empathy, self-confidence, and job performance. The results of the study show that the extroversion of employee personality has a positive effect on employee job performance; the agreeableness of employee personality has a positive effect on employee empathy; the agreeableness of employee personality has a positive effect on employee self-confidence; in the process of employee extroversion affecting empathy, narcissistic personality weakens its effect; in the process of employee agreeableness affecting empathy, narcissistic personality weakens its effect; in the process of employees' openness influencing empathy, narcissistic personality weakens its influence; in the process of employees' neuroticism influencing empathy, narcissistic personality weakens its influence; in the process of employees' extroversion influencing self-confidence, narcissistic personality strengthens its influence; in the process of employees' agreeableness influencing self-confidence, narcissistic personality strengthens its influence; in the process of employees' personality conscientiousness influencing self-confidence, the narcissistic
personality reinforces its influence; in the process of employees' openness influencing self-confidence, narcissistic personality reinforces its influence; in the process of employees' emotional stability influencing self-confidence, narcissistic personality reinforces its influence.
Of the Big Five personalities of conscientiousness, emotional stability, extraversion, openness to experience, and agreeableness in this study, extraversion had a significant positive effect on job performance, was a weak predictor of empathy and self-efficacy, and only agreeableness had a significant effect on empathy and self-efficacy. This can be seen, in the early childhood education industry, the teacher's agreeableness will be more helpful in the formation of self-confidence and empathy in the process of educational practice, in reality, the teaching profession is required to interact positively with students, and will be with the positive, harmonious and friendly, fair and honest attitude of human beings will be transmitted to the students. Therefore, the personality traits of extroversion and agreeableness are more important for educational institutions to influence or change students' current learning status and attitudes toward life, and therefore, more attention should be paid to these two aspects of personality traits when recruiting for teaching positions.
